Eminent artist Mr. Manav Gupta was awarded the Honoris Causa or his pioneering innovations in public art for sustainable development and climate change.
Manav Gupta, one of India’s top ten contemporary artists, is known for avant-garde installations inventing the transformation of pottery, and for paintings, mega murals and pioneering Public Art projects.
‘Rain’, ‘River’, ‘Rainforest & Beehive Garden’, ‘City in a City’, ‘Museum in a Mall’, world record ‘Tree of Life’ mural are his iconic and critically acclaimed creations that attracted thousands of footfalls with innovative concepts of creating public awareness on sustainable development and climate change, excavating local to global, with unique interdisciplinary outreach programmes.
Invited by former President of India, Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam as first Artist-in-Residence at Rashtrapati Bhawan, he was commissioned by Government of India to create one-minute films on environment.
Nature is the soul of his work, with his paintings sold by Christie’s, Bonham’s, Philip de Pury.
He founded ‘arth - art for earth’ and has conceptualised art for sustainable living for two and half decades.
